More about aunt Lillian Herman
Lillian went on to become the first Female Mayor of Hannibal Missouri and was friends with Jimmy Carter the former President.
From Hannibal paper 1-6-1987, Mrs. Herman was employed by the city of Hannibal in June 1956 and worked in the city clerk's office. She was appointed city clerk in December 1959 when Curd Fisher retired and held that position until being elected mayor in the spring of 1977.
Mrs. Herman served as mayor for 2 terms, from May 1977 until April 1981.
She was also past treasurer of Hannibal Public Library Board, serving from 1981 to 1985.
She was a member of the Holy Family Church. She is buried in Holy Family Cemetery.
